PICNIC IN THE VINEYARD TICKETS ON SALE!
Join us Saturday August 15th for an evening of fine wine, fine food, and good friends! The evening will begin at 6:30 pm with check in and an appetizer & wine pairing in the tasting room. We are happy to welcome back Partyman Catering of Avon who will be serving his culinary creations in our vineyard at sunset. Tickets for the five course wine pairing dinner are available at $49.95 plus tax per person and include a commemorative wine glass. Seating is limited. Fresh appetizer with ingredients from our garden
Tomato based gazpacho loaded with fresh summer vegetables, finished with a hint of spice
Fresh summer slaw salad with apples, sugar snap peas and peppers with a honey dijon vinaigrette
Herb marinated pork tenderloin served over a bed of fines herbes and lemon risotto
Chocolate red wine cupcakes topped with a red wine frosting
Wine of the Month: TRAMINETTE
The Wine of the Month is Traminette! Throughout the month of August when you stop in to the winery and purchase two or more bottles of Traminette, you will be entered to win a $10.00 Wegmans gift card and a bottle of Traminette! This month's featured recipe comes from the Deer Run Winery Beverage and Appetizer Cookbook, which my mother-in-law Joan Kuyon and her good friend Jean Newman put together over 10 years ago! We blew the dust off this book to bring you the following tested and approved recipe pairing:
Crab Au Gratin Spread
2 Tbs plus 1 tsp butter divided
3 Tbs all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp paprika
1/2 cup of half and half
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup Deer Run Traminette wine
(1) 6 oz. canned crab meat drained, flaked, cartilage removed OR
2/3 cup chopped imitation crab meat
(1) 4 oz. can mushrooms stems and pieces, drained and chopped
1 1/2 tsp chives, snipped
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 Tbs dry breadcrumbs
Preheat Oven to 400°
In a sauce pan, melt 2 Tbs butter. Stir in the flour, salt and paprika until smooth. Gradually add cream, milk and wine. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 1-2 minutes or until thickened. Stir in crab, mushrooms and chives. Heat through. Stir in cheese just until melted. transfer mixture to a greased shallow 1 quart baking dish. Melt remaining butter and toss with breadcrumbs. Sprinkle over crab mixture. Bake uncovered for 10-15 minutes or until bubbly. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving. Serve warm with crackers and pair with Deer Run Traminette. Enjoy!
Boys and their Farm Toys
Scott, like many farmers, loves his outdoor toys and he is quite pleased with the newest addition to Deer Run's line-up of outdoor equipment. Welcome the new Gaspardo Sprayer! This baby apparently has all the bells and whistles a grape farmer could want and it gets the vineyard sprayed in no time. This means my husband is in the vineyard less and home more!
Consequently, this replaced our former sprayer which is on the market. If you or anyone you know is looking for a crop sprayer, have them call Scott at 585-346-0850.
Wine Competition Results are in!
This year Deer Run Winery entered four wine competitions:
Indy International, Finger Lakes International, NYS Fair, and the NY Wine & Food Classic. So far we received the results from three of the four competitions and we are proud to bring you the results!

American Red Cross Benefit Concert Rocked!
Thank you to all who joined us for this year's American Red Cross benefit concert. Together, with your donations, we raised around $2,400 in just 3 hours for a great cause! And we had a record breaking crowd with over 700 people! Special thanks to the Rhythm Dogs for putting on a great show!
FIVE MORE CONCERTS...
There are just five Thursday summer concerts left, so be sure to come in and enjoy the free music, sunshine, wine and great food! This Thursday we will welcome Midlife Crisis (AWESOME BAND!!!) and Milliner's Southern Smoke BBQ (AWESOME FOOD!!!)
