Conesus Red
Deer Run Winery's Conesus Red is a soft, fruit-forward sweet wine featuring notes of strawberry & cherry. Made with 100% locally grown Steuben grapes, we released our new dessert wine on July 30, 2017, the same day that the Conesus was christened 113 years ago in 1904. The label depicts the Conesus filled with passengers for one of her many excursions around Conesus Lake.
5.5% Residual Sugar / 11.5% ABV
Double Gold Medal Winner at the 2017 NY Wine and Food Classic
The Conesus was a gas powered excursion boat which operated on Conesus Lake from 1904-1914. The wildly popular attraction could hold 1,000 passengers and reportedly held 1,400 passengers at its peak. Church services, moonlight dances and concerts were held on her 2 decks and upon her retirement from rounding the lake, the Conesus was dismantled and her timbers used to build new docks & outbuildings at McPherson Point where the remainder of the ship was sunk into the Cove.
